Joie d’Été

The bad news is we’re in the middle of a really hot Summer spell. The good news is that our Summer seasonal is now available to cool you off! Most of our recipes are written by Forrest Rogness but Yogi, our chai spiced amber ale, was conceived by Diane Rogness. We are excited to present yet another brainchild of Diane’s. Joie d’été, which translates to “joy of Summer”, is made with lemon zest and lavender flowers. Incorporating a Belgian Saison base recipe, this light and refreshing ale will help keep you cool during the 6 month Texas Summer. We only made 8 kegs and 250 cases of this beer and when it’s gone, it won’t return until next year. Ask for it at your favorite bottle shop or bar.

Pro-Am ESB

The next limited release will be out later this month. Jay McEvers of the Austin Zealots won the Keep Austin Beered Pro-Am homebrew competition that we participated in earlier this Summer. Brewed July 18, Jay’s winning ESB recipe will serve as our entry into the Great American Beer Festival’s Pro-Am Competition, and will be released in kegs and bottles in late August. The whole concept of the Pro-Am competition is near and dear to our heart with Forrest and Diane’s homebrewing roots in the Austin community. We can’t wait for you to try Jay’s excellent ESB recipe. It’s an underrepresented style with a growing demand.

Our monthly game night at the brewery happens to be tonight. Bring a board game and a friend. We provide table space and 6 different craft beers available for purchase by the glass. Outside food is welcome. Stop by anytime between 4 and 9pm. No RSVP required. If you can’t make it we are still open on Saturdays as well from 1-4pm with a brief guided tour at 2:30. Once again, no RSVP required.

In addition to our regular lineup we usually have a few brewery only releases in the taproom. For instance, you can currently try our Rad Shandy at the brewery. It is a super refreshing beverage that is basically a simple blonde ale with lemon zest added. We are not allowed to distribute it anywhere else while we wait for label approval.

Lastly, we want to invite to you to the brewery next Friday (August 9) for our very first trivia night hosted by Jacuzzi Pete and the Hot Tub Tubber. Bring your team, compete in some top-notch trivia to win awesome prizes, and enjoy glasses of flavorful craft beer (available for purchase). Trivia is going down from 7-9 but we will open our doors at 4pm for our regular weekly happy hour. Hope you can make it out soon!

As always, thank you for supporting local craft beer and choosing Rogness beers in a growing marketplace.

P.S.

I recently did a small sampling of Vinton, our blonde ale, at Austin Homebrew Supply and I was genuinely surprised at how many people still have never heard of us. We’d be very gracious if you could tell a friend or two about your favorite Rogness beer and/or bring it to the next weekend party you attend. Cheers!
